Program background

The Parramatta to Sydney Foreshore Link will provide Sydney’s longest continuous route for people to walk and ride bikes along 91km of the Parramatta River foreshore between Parramatta Park and the Sydney Opera House/Royal Botanic Gardens.

The program brings the NSW Government and Councils together to work collaboratively to improve access to the foreshore and deliver new and upgraded walking and bike riding connections for locals and visitors of all ages and abilities to enjoy our beautiful harbour.

The Parramatta to Sydney Foreshore Link has been divided into individual segments to help with planning, design and construction. As the program progresses, pending future funding decisions, designs will be prepared for different segments including all relevant planning and environmental assessments. We will consult with community when designs are ready for the different segments.

The 91km continuous route between Dharug and Gadi Country, from Parramatta Park to the Sydney Opera House/Royal Botanic Gardens, will connect between healthy, active and vibrant local centres and foreshore circuits, allowing locals and visitors alike to spend time together for recreation and adventure safely along Sydney’s beautiful river foreshore.

This page is dedicated to updating the community as sections of this major project are planned and constructed on Wangal Country in the City of Canada Bay. Click +Follow above to stay up to date and receive updates from Council.

Updates

Installation of unattended noise loggers

Transport for NSW will conduct background noise monitoring in the areas around the early delivery segments as part of the planning and environmental assessment requirements.

The purpose of the noise monitoring is to measure the existing background noise levels to inform and set noise criteria for any future works in the area for the Parramatta to Sydney Foreshore Link.

Transport for NSW and their contractor EMM Consulting will be seeking permission from nearby residents to install a noise logger either in your backyard or front yard for a period of approximately two weeks. Only background noise levels and sound pressure level data will be recorded. No audio data, voices or sound activity will be recorded.

For more information about the noise loggers or monitoring process, read the FAQs below or contact the Transport for NSW project team with any enquiries on 1800 684 490 or email projects@transport.nsw.gov.au

Early delivery segments

Council has worked with Transport for NSW to identify four segments of the Parramatta to Sydney Foreshore Link that are suitable for early delivery. These are sections of shared path and upgraded crossings which provide immediate benefits to people walking and riding bikes and showcase the benefits of more connections to and along the foreshore.

These segments, shown in the map below, include:

  • Segment 1: New shared path through Shadrack Shaw Reserve in Concord
  • Segment 2: An upgraded shared path through Wire Mill Reserve in Chiswick
  • Segment 3: New shared paths through Allison Park, Campbell Park and Lysaght Park in Chiswick with new crossings on Blackwall Point Road, Parkview Road and Bibby Street
  • Segment 4: Upgrading three crossings on the Bay Run
Feedback on the early delivery segments closed on 20 December 2023. Click on the tiles below to learn more about each of the early delivery segments.
