Update on early delivery projects

15 December 2025

Design updates have been made to the early delivery segments in response to community feedback and technical constraints.

In November 2023 we consulted with the local community and heard the following:

  • Residents near Shadrack Shaw Reserve raised questions about the width of the shared path and potential impacts to mangroves and wildlife, amenity, security and access to their properties.
  • Locals who regularly bike ride through Wire Mill Reserve and Campbell and Lysaght Parks suggested alternate routes to help riders avoid traffic congestion and minimise traffic impact.
  • There was overwhelming support for the proposed crossing upgrades on the Bay Run.

Some of the segment design updates include:

The shared path location has been adjusted to avoid the removal of an established tree that holds commemorative value while still maintaining appropriate distances from the mangroves, minimising environmental impacts. Lighting has also been confirmed as necessary to improve user visibility and personal safety.

The path has been moved to track along the border of Allison Park to minimise the impact to green space and crossing locations have been adjusted accordingly. A new raised pedestrian and bike crossing will replace the non-compliant crossing locations on Bechert Road. Crossing locations near Campbell and Lysaght Park have also been adjusted to minimise tree removal.

The shared crossing on Timbrell Drive has been moved further south to reduce traffic congestion at the intersection with Henley Marine Drive. The existing refuge island will be removed.
