Project background

The City of Canada Bay is creating a Street Tree Masterplan to guide how we look after and grow the trees along our streets. We want your input to help shape this plan so our community can enjoy the full benefits an urban forest.

What is a Street Tree Masterplan?

This plan will help the Council decide which trees to plant, where to plant them, and how to take care of them over time. It will also highlight areas where more trees are needed to reduce heat, improve comfort, and make our city more prepared for climate change.

Why are street trees important?

Street trees have been a big part of the Canada Bay area for a long time—some are over 100 years old! They do much more than just look nice. Trees help cool our streets, support local wildlife, and make our community healthier and more connected. They also:

  • Provide shade for outdoor activities and recreation
  • Create homes for birds and other animals
  • Support mental health and bring people together
  • Make our streets more attractive
