Background

At the Council meeting held on 18 May 2021, Council adopted recommendations for select parking changes to be implemented in the Majors Bay Road Village and surrounds. A summary of what's changing is provided below under the 'adopted changes to date' tab.

During the first round of consultation which took place in March 2021, Council received additional suggestions from the community which we are now seeking further feedback on. These suggestions include:

• Introducing a small section of 1/4P parking on the eastern side of Majors Bay Road
• Addition of overnight ‘No Parking’ restrictions in the Brewer Street Car Park
• Conversion of former Bus Zones on Wellbank Street to ‘No Parking’ for quick pick-up and drop-off whilst still servicing the BRIDJ on-demand buses.

In 2019 the City of Canada Bay worked with the local community to create a Place Plan to enhance the Majors Bay Road Village precinct in Concord. One of the concerns expressed by local residents and businesses was parking in the area. The Majors Bay Chamber of Commerce also requested that Council investigate the existing supply and demand for parking.

A workshop was held with the community in August 2019 to explore key issues and potential solutions. This information was used as part of a brief for consultants, Transport and Traffic Planning Associates (TTPA), who were engaged to investigate the area. A report was provided in December 2019 outlining proposed changes to improve parking in the area. To view the report, click here.

From this report, a number of proposed changes have been refined through engagement with key stakeholders in the area. Some of these changes will be implemented by mid November 2021, however others require further consultation with the community.

The images below show the parking changes which will be implemented by mid November 2021. The community was consulted on these changes in March 2021.
