New mobility access parking and drop-off zone

22 July 2020

As part of the new Five Dock Park Playground project, Council is proposing the addition of two mobility access parking bays, a 5 minute drop-off zone, and adjoining access pathway on Park Road.

The proposed mobility access parking bays and adjoining pathway will ensure the park and new inclusive playground is accessible. The 5 minute drop-off zone is intended to operate from 8:30am until 6pm daily. The proposed parking bays and 5 minute drop-off zone will result in the loss of four existing parking spaces. Please see the below plan for more detail.

Community consultation on the proposed parking bays and access pathway occurred in August 2020. The feedback was taken into account, and most of the respondents were in favour of the proposal. The proposal also passed Council's Traffic Committee and subsequent Council Meeting. Construction of the proposed parking bays is commencing in mid March 2021, and will be complete by the end of March 2021.

The value of the mobility access parking bays, drop-off zone and access path works is $45,000. These works are included in the total $464,000 value of the new Five Dock Park Playground project. The project is jointly funded by the City of Canada Bay and the NSW Government’s Everyone Can Play Grant Program. This program is a commitment by the NSW Government to create better and more inclusive play spaces across NSW.
