In July / August 2020 we undertook community consultation regarding a proposed East-West Regional Cycleway. We received feedback from the community encouraging us to develop some of the concepts further.

As a result, the matter was deferred at a recent Council meeting to provide additional time to work with the community regarding the design of parts of the Regional Cycleway. In consideration of feedback from the community, a new concept for the section of the cycleway on Harris Road has been prepared as per the below plan.

Reducing the impact on parking has been a key focus whilst still providing facilities that encourage cycling and walking. Three parking spaces are identified as requiring removal, significantly less than the ten identified in the original concept plan.

The section of cycleway that was proposed along the roadway has been replaced with a shared path, which will require the removal of three existing trees. The refuge islands and other elements have also been refined to reduce impact.

The Director City Services and Assets and Council’s project team will be on-site Thursday 29 October 2020 – 5:30pm to 6:30pm in Bevin Avenue near Harris Road to meet with the community and discuss the project.

Attendees are reminded to follow current health guidelines including maintaining social distancing. Attendees will be asked to provide contact details on arrival to assist with contact tracing. These contact details will also be used to assist in keeping the community up to date regarding the Regional Cycleway project.
