Read our new Cultural Plan

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback on our draft Cultural Plan. Following public exhibition, our draft Cultural Plan was taken to Council on 15 August 2023 where it was adopted. Read the meeting minutes and take a look at our new Cultural Plan, Our Creative City 2033.

Public exhibition of draft Cultural Plan

From 17 May - 18 June 2022 we asked for feedback on our draft Cultural Plan "Our Creative City".

The Cultural Plan addresses how Council will:

  • Support creatives from game designers to musicians, actors to artists
  • Partner with local community groups and residents to celebrate and create
  • Encourage creative business and help cultural professionals to build opportunities to trade and practise
  • Create vibrant events, places and spaces for the community to come together and celebrate their creativity and culture.

Why are we doing this? Increased prosperity, leisure time and higher levels of education are driving a demand for cultural participation, and it is therefore important for Council to plan ahead for cultural facilities and activities to meet increasing demand and capitalise on this growing economy.

This consultation seeks feedback from the community to review the Cultural Plan and ensure it continues to align with the community’s views, interests, and aspirations.
