Consultation outcomes and next steps

11 April 2025

Earlier this year we asked for feedback on the following proposals to improve safety and reduce traffic congestion:

  • Upgrading the intersection at Brays Road, Gale Street and Mortlake Street in Concord
  • Adjusting the centreline on Adams Street, adjacent to Brays Road
  • Installing speed cushions on Cabarita Road, at Mortlake Street

Feedback has been taken into consideration and a report was taken to Council's Traffic Committee in February 2025, followed by a meeting of Council on 18 March 2025. Read the meeting agenda, minutes and attachments (p. 610 onwards) for more information.

A few design changes have been made in response to community feedback, which are outlined below along with next steps.

Intersection upgrade

Works to upgrade the intersection are scheduled to start late April 2025, with completion expected by early June 2025, weather permitting. Works will be carried out Monday to Friday between 7am and 5pm, however there may be instances that will require work to be undertaken outside of these hours, in which case residents and businesses will be notified.

In response to concerns about parking loss, we will review parking arrangements in the area and consult with businesses and residents.

Adams street centreline changes

Plans have been finalised and works will take place in the coming months. Nearby residents will be notified prior to works taking place.

Cabarita Road speed cushions

In response to community concerns about the impact of the proposed speed cushions on traffic flow, plans have been adjusted to only install speed cushions on approach to the intersection. Updated plans are available below and nearby businesses and residents will be notified prior to works taking place.
