    "Garry has taken the initiative to establish and co-ordinate a Coffee Grounds Recycling project in the Breakfast Point/Mortlake area... more than a dozen (virtually all) local coffee shops involved in collecting and recycling coffee grounds rather than sending them to waste."

    "His dedicated efforts in mowing random properties and cleaning streets from rubbish in Rhodes East. His commitment to maintaining green spaces and keeping the community clean has had a significant positive impact on the local environment."

    "After discovering a used needle in the street, we have implemented the community collection of sharps so that no one should ever touch a used syringe, no questions asked... have a community wheelchair, knee rollator, rollator and crutches to reduce landfill.... [and] separate our rubbish into recycling, confidential and waste."

    "Waste is majorly reduced in Glaze Galleria as many household objects are re-used and recycled to make patterns or to be used within day-to-day operations of the business."

    "Both State and Federal Governments are promoting the uptake of electric vehicles as part of their efforts to meet climate change targets. There are particular challenges for apartment residents in being able to access charging facilities so the Community Association has developed a website to provide residents with a range of EV related information."

  • Canada Bay Zero Carbon Community

    "Canada Bay Zero Carbon Community are a group of volunteers passionate about achieving zero carbon emissions in the City of Canada Bay... through educating residents about solar power and electrification of homes... Specifically, on March 5 2024, they ran a workshop called Electrify Everything with the assistance of Council."

  • Climate Action Burwood/Canada Bay

    "CABCB is an educational and lobby group. It seeks to increase community understanding of the problem of climate change and the need to reduce emissions and increase the use of renewable energy... to influence federal, state and local governments to do more to mitigate the problem."

  • Inner West Community Energy

    "Inner West Community Energy educate the community through solar information nights by promoting the benefits of solar power. These events also involve a Q&A where attendees can ask an installer questions about their own situation."

  • Rhodes Community Garden

    "Rhodes Community Garden cares for the native garden on public land, outside of the garden, including growing the native seedlings for the area when needed. They recently supported Council in rescuing a sugarbag bee hive and are now the official carers of the bee colony."

    "A sensitive addition to an Inter-War bungalow in the Mons Street and Boronia Avenue Heritage Conservation Area. The addition preserves the streetscape by being visually unobtrusive."
