This summer the City of Canada Bay is hosting our annual photography competition! The theme this year is ‘Inspiring Change'. To enter, snap and submit an original photograph depicting stories, places or people within the City of Canada Bay that inspire change in the community!

The photo must be an original image taken within the City of Canada Bay. To be eligible for the prize, your entry must include:

• Your name
• Contact number and email
• One sentence outlining how your photo relates to the theme
• Original image — quality should be 800kb (300dpi), saved as an uncompressed JPEG.

The competition opens at 10am on Monday, 18 December 2023 and ends at 11:59pm on Wednesday, 31 January 2024.

Employees of the City of Canada Bay and their immediate families are ineligible to enter.

Our theme for this year's competition is Inspiring Change. Entrants may present any photos connected to the theme of the competition and taken with any type of photographic device.

Prizes will be awarded according to the three categories outlined below:

1. People

It is special to capture people. A still image will show details, moods, and feelings we would not normally notice. Submit any portraits worth sharing of people and actions by people that inspire change.

2. Nature

Nature photography is never boring. From resilient plants and animals to changing seasons, this category is for images that capture the natural world around us.

3. Youth (aged 5–15 years old)

Young photographers aged between 5–15 years old are invited to share their photos of people, nature, places or things that connect to the 'Inspiring Change' theme. This category will be awarded with a special prize.

All eligible entries will be judged by representatives from the City of Canada Bay’s Environment, Place and Media and Communications teams. The panel will judge each entry according to creativity, as well as photography techniques applied.

There will be four prize winners: one for each category and one People’s Choice Award winner, which will be decided through a vote on Facebook. Follow us to make sure you don't miss the vote!

Prize winners for the following categories will receive one $200 gift voucher for a local City of Canada Bay restaurant:

• People
• Nature
• People's Choice

The Youth category will be awarded with a special prize worth $200.

By entering the competition, entrants agree to be bound by the terms and conditions.

Council reserves the right to verify the validity of all entries and disqualify any entrant for tampering with the entry process, including but not limited to, submitting an entry that is not in accordance with these terms and conditions.
