We’re looking for interesting and creative photos taken by you throughout the day. They may be while you're out walking, in your backyard or public places within the City of Canada Bay.

To enter, simply upload your photo on this website by clicking on the 'upload my photo' button below. The photo must be an original image taken within the City of Canada Bay.

To be eligible for the prize, your entry must include:

• Your name
• Your email
• Your postcode
• Your date of birth
• Your best contact phone number (please type this in the submission box)
• One sentence about your photo outlining the subject of the photo (please type this in the submission box)
• An original image – quality should be 800kb (300dpi), saved as an uncompressed JPEG.

Competition opens: Monday, 3 January 2022 at 9am
Competition closes: Monday, 31 January 2022

Entrants must be 12–18 years of age at the time of entry. All entries younger than 18 years, must be made with consent of a guardian or adult over 18 years old.

All entrants must be residents of the City of Canada Bay. Employees of the City of Canada Bay and their immediate families are ineligible to enter.

Prizes will be awarded in the three categories outlined below.

Category one: Curious Creatures

You may come across a range of curious creatures in our area such as butterflies, rainbow lorikeets, pigeons, chickens, dogs, cats and other interesting animals. Take a picture and share it!

Category two: Colour Pop!

Colour pop is a very simple but effective technique where you keep one part of the image in colour and turn the rest black and white. This makes the colour pop out of the image.

Category three: Moment in time

Take a candid photo of a moment in time; a sunset, sunrise, a smiling face, a bus going by. Moments in time are just that, captured moments that tell the story of just a small part of your day.

All eligible entries will be judged by representatives from the City of Canada Bay’s Media and Communications, Library and Place teams. The panel will judge each entry for its creativity, as well as photography techniques applied.

There will be four major prize winners: one for each category and one People’s Choice Award winner, which will be decided through a vote on Facebook. Each prize winner will receive one $100 JB Hi-Fi gift voucher.

There will be 3 runner-up prize winners: one for each category. Each runner up will receive one $50 Dymocks book voucher.

Winners will be contacted and announced on this page. Good luck to all the entrants.

By entering the competition, entrants agree to be bound by the terms and conditions of the Youth Photography Competition.

Council reserves the right to verify the validity of all entries and disqualify any entrant for tampering with the entry process, including but not limited to, submitting an entry that is not in accordance with these terms and conditions.
