Project background

Utz Reserve, Drummoyne is a small park with views across the Parramatta River to the Harbour Bridge.

In 2023 we proposed some upgrades to Utz Reserve, Drummoyne to make it a more accessible and inviting public space for the whole community to enjoy. The proposed design responds to existing site conditions providing better access and seating in a landscaped garden setting.

We asked for community feedback on the proposed concept design, take a look at the feedback summary for an overview of what we heard.

The below table summary outlines the details of the initiation and planning phases of the project:

March – December 2022

Preliminary investigation to collapsed retaining wall.

Installation of temporary shoring (timber structure) to damaged retaining wall.

December 2022 – May 2023

Concept design preparation.

Obtain structural certification to temporary shoring work and conduct remedial work (valid for 6 months).

May – June 2023

Concept design consultation.

June – August 2023

RFQ release to the market to engage design consultant, evaluation of submissions, and contract award.

September – November 2023

Obtain structural re-certification to temporary shoring work (valid for 6 months).

Conduct Geotechnical Investigation to ascertain design.

December 2023 – April 2024

Obtain structural re-certification to temporary shoring work (valid for 6 months).

Amend design based on Geotechnical findings.

May – September 2024

Obtain structural re-certification to temporary shoring work (valid for 6 months).

Independent engineer review process to detailed design.

September 2024 – February 2025

Design finalisation.

February 2025 - Current

Obtain structural re-certification to temporary shoring work (valid for 6 months).

Commence delivery phase of project by preparing RFQ documents to obtain submissions from suitable civil / landscaping contractors.
