Project background
In 2023 we asked for feedback on the draft Timbrell Park Plan of Management and Masterplan. Two key improvements the community requested include:
- Playing field upgrades to improve playability following wet weather
- Traffic and parking improvements around the park
We then conducted site investigation works and surveyed the playing fields to inform the early planning of the playing field upgrades. We also asked the community for any suggestions or comments for Council to consider and asked for feedback on proposed traffic and parking improvements around the park.
Take a look at the consultation report to see a summary of what we heard.
The draft Plan of Management and Masterplan were then updated and both documents were adopted by Council in August 2024.

Draft Review of Environmental Factors (REF)
We are now sharing a draft REF, which provides an overview of the upgrades planned for Timbrell Park and potential noise, light spill, and traffic impacts of the work.
You're invited to review the draft REF and share any feedback or comments by Sunday, 27 July 2025.

How to provide feedback
About the upgrades
Council will soon commence upgrade works at Timbrell Park, in line with the Timbrell Park Plan of Management and Masterplan finalised last year.
These works will improve the grounds and increase playing capacity for local sporting clubs, whilst increasing parking capacity along Henley Marine Drive and reducing spill from the sportsfield lighting. More information about the upgrades can be found below.
Sportsfields
The sportsfields will be re-turfed and re-levelled to provide a better playing experience and improve long-term maintenance. The fields will also be reconfigured to enable more space for play.
Parking improvements
We will also deliver parking improvements, informed by community feedback last year. This is the first of a number of parking improvement initiatives around the Park, and involves the construction of 16 angled parking spaces along Henley Marine Drive.
Lighting changes
While the field upgrade is taking place, we are planning to upgrade the sportsfield lighting to suit the new layout and provide more opportunities for the community to use the space.
The lighting changes include:
- Improved LED lighting with better direction and reduced light spill along Henley Marine Drive
- Relocation of 11 poles to suit the new field layout
- Increase in pole height from 25m to 32m to meet lighting standards for sports training and competitions
- No proposed change to the current hours of use or lighting levels.
Timing of works
Works are anticipated to start in August, and Timbrell Park will be closed for approximately eight months to allow time for the new playing surface to establish.
