Project background

Council has received numerous requests from the Rhodes community to construct a pedestrian crossing along Shoreline Drive to make it safer and easier for pedestrians to access The Connection, The Learning Space and Foreshore Park.

Council has now obtained funding from the Australian Government under the Investing in Our Communities Program to install a new raised pedestrian crossing on Shoreline Drive near Annie Leggett Promenade, Rhodes.

This project involves:

  • Constructing a raised pedestrian crossing on Shoreline Drive (near Annie Leggett Promenade)
  • Removing four on-street parking spaces to ensure safe sight distances for vehicles
  • Upgrading street lighting to comply with current standards
