The playground is now open!

As part of our Let’s Play Playground Strategy we are currently upgrading the existing neighbourhood playground at Roberts Reserve.

The aim of this project is to enhance the existing play area for families and young children in our local community.

What did the works involve?

The works include replacing existing play equipment, installing new playground soft fall (mulch), and installing a shade sail. The works have an estimated value of $75,000.

Local residents were consulted twice to assist us in planning the works:

In July and August 2018 residents were asked whether they would prefer the playground was moved to a different area of the park, as well as other key design elements. The community was given two options for the playground works which can be found in the document library.

In November 2018 residents were asked for feedback on a draft playground design, also available in the document library.

Consultation findings

The community consultation found that most residents would like option one in which the central play unit would be moved from it's existing site and placed next to the swing set and adjoining play equipment on the other side of the park. The community accepted the draft design plans in November. Also as a result of the consultation, we replaced the mesh fencing around the ball play area in the park.
