Car sharing is a form of car rental that operates from a designated parking spot and is designed to give users easy convenient access to a vehicle when required. Car sharing is generally more flexible than traditional forms of car rental as users are able to rent vehicles for a wide variety of time periods (from hours to days) and these vehicles are generally conveniently located.
The City of Canada Bay supports car sharing by providing designated parking spaces for the vehicles. These spaces have been rolled out progressively as the demand for car share increases.
Due to the level of demand for car sharing in Rhodes, the City of Canada Bay is proposing additional car share spaces, which will be allocated to an approved car share company.

Car share in Rhodes
Rhodes is a unique suburb within the City of Canada Bay as it was specifically designed to promote the usage of public transport. Combined with the limited amount of on-street parking available, this makes Rhodes a great place for car share.
Since introducing car share in 2016, demand for services has grown significantly each year. Demand for car share spaces regularly exceeds 200 hours per month in some spaces with an average of 160 hours per month in Rhodes alone. This is in comparison to the average demand of 120 hours per month across the LGA.
Currently there are a total of 11 permanent car share bays (highlighted in green) throughout Rhodes. We are already currently trialling five spaces that we are considering making permanent and would like your feedback on (highlighted in blue).
In addition to these, we are proposing four new trial car share spaces (highlighted in yellow) to meet the growing demand for car share services in Rhodes.
