A section of Walker Street to be temporarily closed

7 October 2025

To facilitate the first stage of the Rhodes Station Precinct project and ensure the safety of pedestrians during construction, a section of Walker Street will be closed to vehicles for around 4–6 weeks from Wednesday 15 October.

Keeping the community safe is Council’s top priority. By closing vehicle lanes, the construction team can clearly separate works from pedestrian paths, ensuring a safer environment while still keeping pedestrian access open along Walker Street to the Station.

This short-term closure will also help the team finish the works more efficiently, ensuring the road and new crossing will be open before Christmas.

The temporary closure was carefully reviewed and approved through Council’s traffic processes, with safety front of mind.

We thank the community for their patience while these important safety measures are in place.
