Project background
To improve pedestrian and driver safety in the area, Council is proposing to upgrade two intersections along Nullawarra Avenue, Concord West at Nirranda Street and Norman Street.
We are seeking feedback on these proposed works up until Sunday, 29 March 2026. Following this, the plans will be adjusted as appropriate and taken to the Local Transport Forum and a meeting of Council. The works are planned to be delivered in two stages.
About the proposed upgrades
Key features of the proposed safety upgrades include:
- Installing a pedestrian refuge across the driveway entrance to The Concord Club, to ensure clear lanes for vehicles to enter/exit and to help pedestrians safely cross the road
- Converting the existing refuge island on Nullawarra Avenue at Nirranda Street to a pedestrian and bike crossing
- Improving connections for pedestrians and bikes along Nullawarra Avenue into Majors Bay Reserve
- Installing speed humps on approach to the roundabout at Norman Street and Nullawarra Avenue to slow vehicle speeds
- Restricting vehicles from turning right from Quandong Place onto Nullawarra Avenue, to make the intersection safer for vehicles.
