Project background

To improve pedestrian and driver safety in the area, Council is proposing to install a roundabout at the intersection of Nullawarra Avenue and Boronia Street in Concord West. The proposal also involves installing a new raised pedestrian crossing across Nullawarra Avenue to provide a safe connection for pedestrians crossing to and from Concord Hospital.

The plan below outlines the proposed upgrades, and you are invited to share your feedback on this proposal up until Sunday, 8 March 2026.

About the proposed upgrades

The proposed intersection upgrade involves installing a roundabout which features:

  • Pedestrian refuge islands to make it easier for pedestrians to cross the road
  • Kerb ramps connecting to existing footpaths
  • Speed cushions on approach to the roundabout to slow vehicle speeds
  • New signage

The installation of the roundabout would result in the loss of two on-street parking spaces on Boronia Street, to ensure sufficient sightlines for vehicles as they approach the intersection. This is outlined on the map below.

The proposed raised pedestrian crossing avoids impacts to existing heritage trees on Nullawarra Avenue and will not result in any parking loss.
