Project Update - February 2021

Community feedback has now been assessed and a report outlining engagement outcomes is available to view here.

In response to the majority of community support for the pole lighting option, Council is proceeding with installing pole lighting on the foreshore pathway.

This project is anticipated to commence in early April 2021 and be completed by June 2021

Project Background

The City of Canada Bay is committed to enhancing foreshore access and promoting active lifestyles through infrastructure upgrades.

In 2014, the shared cycle/pedestrian pathway was installed on the eastern side of Lysaght Park. The Chiswick Place Plan 2014-2019 identified that the community values foreshore pathways and stated more adequate lighting was required along these pathways.

In response to community feedback, on 9 October 2018 Council resolved to consider low level lighting along the Lysaght Park foreshore pathway to enhance evening usage and promote community safety.

Council has investigated two design options for pathway lighting along the western side of the footpath:

  • Option one — install pole lighting (14 poles, 4 metres high)
  • Option two — install bollard lighting (27 bollards, 1 metre high).

Council completed a design investigation summary and estimated lighting layout of both design options. Click here to read the fact sheet, and click here to read about electrical layout.

We encourage the community to read these documents and contribute feedback. Please share your feedback by completing the online submission form below between 18 September to 9 October 2020.
