April 2025 Update

22 April 2025

Thanks for signing up to receive updates on our upgrade to Howley Park, Drummoyne.

Council has progressed the upgrade of Howley Park through detailed design, planning approvals, and procurement preparation.

We’re pleased to share that the development application (DA2024/0236) submitted in December 2024 has now been approved, and construction of Stage One – covering landscape and accessibility upgrades – will be starting soon.

A Review of Environmental Factors (REF) is undergoing final review to ensure the upgrades satisfy environmental planning requirements, and currently Stage One works are on track to start in mid-2025. Nearby residents will be notified prior to works starting.

Stage One — landscaping and accessibility upgrades

Stage One includes works across both Howley Park East and West, including:

  • Creation of a lawn terrace
  • Installation of new bench seats and seating walls
  • Upgrades to the existing path network
  • Construction of stairs for beach access
  • Planting of additional trees and shrubs.

Stage One is proudly funded by the NSW Government and the City of Canada Bay.

Next steps

  • Finalise the REF and revise design plans accordingly
  • Appoint a contractor to undertake works
  • Notify nearby residents prior to works starting mid-2025.

We appreciate your interest in the Howley Park upgrade and look forward to delivering Stage One as a key step in bringing the full Masterplan vision to life.
