Consultation outcomes

We have reviewed all your submissions and have made changes to the original design in line with your suggestions. These design changes include

  • Increased grass area around the picnic shelter
  • Slight adjustments to the planted mounds to allow for shade plantings for seating without restricting solar access to the raised garden beds for produce.

Hoskins Reserve and the community garden within it are now scheduled for upgrade works. This includes developing the site into a more permanent local facility, accessible to the community.

The original Rhodes Community garden site was developed through consultation with residents as part of a pilot project which has seen an increase over time in membership.

The intent of the garden and its design is to provide a space:

  • For community connection through sustainable food production
  • That supports environmental, social and cultural sustainability
  • That is attractive, inclusive and community led
  • That provides improved public amenity and shelter.
