Project background

In response to community concerns around pedestrian and driver safety, Council is proposing improvements at the intersection of Gipps Street and Flavelle Street in Concord.

The proposed improvements are outlined on the draft plan below and include:

  • Constructing a pedestrian refuge island at the intersection to slow vehicle speeds and provide a safe crossing point for pedestrians
  • Introducing a ‘left turn only’ restriction from Flavelle Street into Gipps Street, to improve traffic flow at the intersection

You are invited to provide feedback on the proposal up until Sunday, 31 May 2026.

Based on community feedback, the plan will be subject to minor modifications.
