Project Updates
Overview
To improve accessibility and safety for all road users, Council is upgrading the intersection at First Avenue and Arthur Street in Rodd Point.
The upgrade includes:
- installing a raised pedestrian crossing at First Avenue
- installing a pedestrian refuge island and speed cushions
- reconfiguring the bus stop on First Avenue to prevent vehicles from overtaking stopped buses (this will require the removal of one on-street parking space)
The upgrade will require the removal of four on-street parking spaces to meet relevant standards for pedestrian sight lines and enable the reconfiguration of the bus stop.
The existing post box on Arthur Street will be relocated to the opposite side of the street, within the existing ‘No Parking’ zone.
Details of the upgrade are outlined on the draft concept plan below.
