About the proposal
Ahead of the annual EOI for stallholder applications for
Ferragosto, Council has recently reviewed the stallholder fees and charges for
Ferragosto 2025 and is proposing the following changes to reflect the cost of
delivering the event as well as the event's popularity.
Historically businesses located in the Canada Bay area have paid a lower fee than those located out of area, and businesses located within Five Dock Town Centre have paid a further reduced stallholder fee in recognition of the impact of Ferragosto.
This arrangement will not change with all non-City of Canada Bay based businesses paying a premium, however we are proposing to include the cost of the temporary food stall inspection fee for Five Dock Town Centre businesses requesting a food stall at the event - a fee which to date has been covered by Council. To help manage the impact of this change, we are proposing to stagger the implementation by subsidising 50% of this cost at Ferragosto 2025 (equivalent to $55) and passing on the full fee in 2026.
New fees have also been added to discourage late applications from stallholders and to cover costs associated with breaches of site safety.
All other event administration fees remain the same as those referenced in Council's Fees and Charges 2024-25 on page 33.
The proposed changes are summarised in the table below and are on public exhibition until Sunday 9 February 2025.
