We weren't able to gather as usual for Ferragosto this year, but we still celebrated our fantastic Italian food, culture and heritage on Sunday, 16 August. Our key focus was Ferragosto at Home and we encouraged the community to have their own Ferragosto wherever they are, a Long Table Lunch (or Pranzo Ferragosto) at home, local restaurant or club.

A big thank you to all of the local businesses which supported our community to celebrate Ferragosto by offering special menu items, dining experiences or discounts.

Below is a summary of the day's events:

• Menu del Giorno — our very own Ferragosto Ambassador, Vincenzo of Vincenzo's Plate, hosted a live cook-a-long and showed us how to make some delicious Italian food.
• Online broadcast — we hosted a live broadcast on the day with a jam packed program full of interviews, music, and videos. To view a rundown of the program and watch the broadcast, click here.
• Dress the driveway — we invited residents and businesses to download a design toolkit and decorate their drive, garden, balcony, premises or shopfront — all in Ferragosto style! For full details, click here.

Any business in the City of Canada Bay can help to support Ferragosto through any Italian themed promotion of their products or services.

Food and drink businesses are invited to promote their Italian cuisine, products and drinks. This could be supplying the ingredients for the Menu del Giorno — special packs of produce or drink elements, or themed hampers which can be pre-ordered or purchased as gifts to send to others.

Restaurants, bars and venues could host a ‘Pranzo Ferragosto’, a Long Table Lunch with our special Menu del Giorno or their own signature dish. They could also offer set meals or dishes for delivery or take-away.

Decorate your premises or shop windows with a Ferragosto theme! We will be producing a design pack you can print off for templates. Get a copy via email: events@canadabay.nsw.gov.au

Finally, no matter what you do, how big or how small, tell us about your Ferragosto promotion plans and we will promote them through our marketing campaign to drive interest in businesses across the city. Any special activity on the day itself will also generate interest during the live online broadcast.

There are opportunities for business to work as a partner with Council on Ferragosto 2020. If your company would like to make any special offers, discounts, donations or prizes, then we’d love to hear from you.

We welcome businesses wishing to support us further, perhaps by offering product-based recipes to share. You may like to consider name branding of a specific dish which could benefit from pre-event promotional videos on social media or a specific feature in the event day online broadcast.
