Proposal supported at Traffic Committee and Council

14 August 2024

Community Consultation Outcome

From 30 April - 20 May 2024, we asked for your feedback on a proposal to install electric vehicle (EV) chargers at three different sites (Brewer Street car park, Five Dock Leisure Centre car park and Formosa Street car park).

33 submissions were received, which commented on the proposed locations as well as potential charging times and associated parking arrangements.

The majority of feedback supported the installation of EV chargers at the proposed locations. There were some requests for additional higher speed chargers and some concerns over the time limits being too short for vehicles to charge.

Council Meeting Outcome

The proposal to install EV chargers was supported at both the Traffic Committee meeting in May 2024, and at the Council meeting on 18 June 2024.

Next Steps

This project is now in the detailed design stage. The specific chargers that will be installed, as well as cost and charging speed, will be determined in consultation with the chosen provider.

EV chargers will be installed as follows:

  • Two parking spaces in the Brewer Street carpark, restricted to ‘2P Electric Vehicles Only While Charging’
  • Two parking spaces in the Five Dock Leisure Centre carpark, restricted to ‘3P Electric Vehicles Only While Charging'
  • Two parking spaces in the Formosa Street carpark, restricted to ‘1P Electric Vehicles Only While Charging’
