Thank you for your submissions. The first stage of consultation is now closed.
Your feedback will now be reviewed and key areas for investigation identified to help guide the Bike Steering Group and draft bike plan. We will keep you updated here as the project progresses.
We are developing a new bike plan to identify and plan the delivery of cycling infrastructure to meet the current and future needs of bike riders. The City of Canada Bay currently has about 18km of off-road cycle routes along with about 21km of on-road cycle routes.
Many routes have been delivered as a result of the previous bike planning works including the 2005 Bike Plan which was reviewed in 2014. Additional information on previous bike planning work is available here.
With increasing traffic and parking pressures in the Council area it is important that the necessary infrastructure is in place to encourage cycling as a mode of transport. Due to significant changes that are occurring within the Council area, a new Bike Plan is required to ensure we continue to meet the needs of the community.
Through the Parramatta Road Urban Amenity Improvement Plan, the NSW Government is providing funding for the delivery of an east-west regional cycle route linking the North Strathfield area through to Iron Cove. This has created an opportunity for us to establish a better connected cycling network and the path this route is to take is being investigated noting the significant challenges along Gipps Street and Queens Road.
How can I get involved?
Your ideas and comments are important to us and you are encouraged to provide feedback on the map below including challenges on existing routes, opportunities for new routes, and amenities you would like to suggest along these paths.
The ‘Future’ routes identified reflect previous bike planning work and are being reviewed as part of this process.
You are also invited to lodge an expression of interest to participate in a Bike Steering Group using the form to the right.
