Project background

The Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP) is a 4-year plan that outlines how Council will help make the area a better place for people living with disability.

The DIAP is an important document that outlines how Council will improve access to Council venues, information, services and employment. It also covers how Council will promote the rights of people living with disability.

From October to December 2025, we asked for feedback from people with diverse lived experiences of disability to help us draft this plan. We heard from carers, family members, support workers, and people who support inclusion in our community. Take a look at the Consultation Report to learn more.

Community feedback has been used to draft the DIAP 2026-2030.

Draft Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2026-2030

The draft DIAP has 42 actions across four focus areas:

  • Developing positive community attitudes and upholding the rights of people with disability
  • Creating liveable and safer communities
  • Supporting access to meaningful employment and independence
  • Improving access to mainstream services through better systems and processes.

The draft DIAP was on public exhibition from 24 April - 24 May 2026. During this time, we asked for community feedback on the draft.
