Between June 2017 and August 2018, the City of Canada Bay asked residents all over the area to tell us what they thought about our town centres and places via online and face-to-face surveys. We spoke to over 1000 people both on the street, at Ferragosto 2018 and online and we got some amazing feedback and suggestions.

We asked what your ideal town centre looked like, and how various features in these places impact your enjoyment of the places you visit in your area.

In Canada Bay, some of our town centres include:

  • Great North Road, Five Dock
  • Tennyson Road, Mortlake
  • Majors Bay Road, Concord
  • Mortlake and Gale Streets, Concord

What You Told Us

What you like most about your town centres:

  • Amount of public space

What you'd like more of:

  • Amenities and facilities
  • Public events

Future priorities:

Different suburbs had varied priorities, but as a community you've got some great ideas about how we can improve:

You want more car accessibility, parking and a focus on active modes of transport, and public transportation

You want more restaurants, cafes, outdoor dining and things to do in the public realm

You want more and better commercial diversity, fresh food offerings and pop-up stores

You want more community oriented facilities, services and events, family friendly spaces and things to do for all ages

You want cleaner public spaces, updated public amenities and facilities
